Product Introduction

Rantac Dom Tablets contain ranitidine and domperidone as active components. Ranitidine is an H2 blocker that reduces stomach acid production and can help relieve symptoms associated with peptic ulcers, GERD, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a rare condition that causes excessive acid production in the stomach, leading to peptic ulcers. GERD is characterised by the backward flow of stomach acid into the oesophagus, causing heartburn and acid reflux. By decreasing acid production, ranitidine can alleviate heartburn, indigestion, and stomach pain. Domperidone is a dopamine receptor antagonist that improves gastrointestinal motility and helps prevent nausea and vomiting. It is commonly used for gastroparesis, which involves delayed gastric emptying.

Patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to ranitidine, domperidone, or any components of Rantac Dom Tablets should not use this medication. Certain medical conditions or factors increase the risk of adverse effects when using Rantac Dom Tablets. These factors include a history of cardiac arrhythmias, electrolyte imbalances, or gastrointestinal bleeding. These medications are excreted through the kidneys, and their use may require adjustment in patients with kidney dysfunction. Elderly patients are more susceptible to side effects such as confusion, dizziness, and cardiac effects. Close monitoring and dosage adjustments are necessary in this population to minimise the risk of adverse effects.

Uses

Peptic ulcers Gastroesophageal reflux disease Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Nausea and vomiting Gastroparesis

How it works

By reducing stomach acid production with ranitidine, the potential irritation and discomfort caused by excess acid can be minimized. Domperidone then complements the effects of ranitidine by improving gastrointestinal motility, allowing for better digestion, and preventing symptoms like nausea and vomiting.
