Product Introduction
Rantac MPS LA Suspension contains three active ingredients: Magaldrate, Simethicone, and Oxetacaine, which are classified as antacids and anti-ulcer agents. It is used to treat acidity, indigestion, heartburn, and stomach upset. Magaldrate works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Simethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles to facilitate their elimination through belching or flatulence, whilst Oxetacaine provides local anaesthesia and pain relief from ulcers or acid-related gastric injury.
Do not use Rantac MPS LA Suspension if you are allergic to Magaldrate, Simethicone, Oxetacaine, or any other ingredient in the formulation. Prior to taking Magaldrate + Simethicone + Oxetacaine, inform your doctor if you have a history of appendicitis, bowel obstruction, rectal bleeding, kidney disease, are following a low-magnesium diet, or have recently had bowel surgery. Avoid concurrent use of antacids containing aluminium and magnesium with Simethicone and Magaldrate, as this may lead to constipation and intestinal obstruction. Magnesium-containing antacids may cause diarrhoea.
Inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or suspect pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you are taking other medications to prevent drug interactions and adverse effects. Do not consume alcohol, as it can increase stomach acid production and worsen acidity and heartburn. Do not exceed the recommended duration of treatment with this medication. This medicine is not recommended for children, as safety in the paediatric population has not been established.

How it works
Magaldrate functions by neutralizing excess stomach acid. Simethicone, also known as activated dimethicone, combines silica gel and dimethicone. It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles, facilitating their release through belching or flatulence. It also prevents gas accumulation in the digestive system. Oxetacaine provides pain relief by numbing the stomach and alleviating discomfort caused by ulcers or acidic injuries.
