Product Introduction

Rantac RD Capsule is a combination medication containing rabeprazole and domperidone, belonging to the proton pump inhibitor and dopamine antagonist classes. It is indicated for gastroesophageal reflux disease (where stomach acid and contents reflux into the esophagus), peptic ulcers (erosions or sores on the stomach lining), and nausea and vomiting.

This medicine is contraindicated in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, or QT prolongation, and in those receiving medications that prolong the QT interval. Rantac RD Capsule may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or vision changes in some patients. Should these effects occur, activities demanding alertness such as driving, cycling, or operating machinery should be avoided until the patient feels better. Prolonged use may lead to hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels in the body). Symptoms of hypomagnesemia include fatigue, muscle spasms or weakness, irregular heartbeat, and seizures. Any development of these symptoms warrants immediate notification to your doctor. Use of Rantac RD Capsule should be discussed with your physician if you are pregnant, suspect pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Uses

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) Peptic Ulcer Treats Nausea and Vomiting

How it works

Rabeprazole works by irreversibly binding to the proton pump and inhibiting its function. By doing so, it blocks the final step of acid production. Specifically, this drug inhibits the enzyme's ability to transport hydrogen ions (protons) into the stomach, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion. Domperidone enhances the movement and contractions of the stomach and intestines. It helps to improve gastrointestinal motility and facilitates the food to pass through the digestive part.

How to Use

Take the Rantac RD Capsule as your physician advises. Usually, the capsules will be taken with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the capsule if your doctor advises you to stop.

Side Effects

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common Headache Stomach pain Diarrhea Dryness in the mouth Weakness Nausea, vomiting Infection Rash, itching Painful or tender breasts Back pain
