Product Introduction
Renfor 180mg tablet is an immunosuppressant containing mycophenolate sodium as its active ingredient. It functions as an inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitor. This medicine is indicated to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone organ transplantation, including kidney, heart, or liver transplant. Treatment is administered as part of combination therapy with other immunosuppressive agents.
This drug is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects and miscarriage. It should not be prescribed in pregnant women unless no suitable alternatives exist and potential benefits justify the risks. Female patients of reproductive potential are advised to use effective contraception while taking this tablet to prevent pregnancy.
Live vaccines should not be given while taking Renfor 180mg tablet because vaccine effectiveness may be reduced and risk of infection increased. Patients taking this medicine should not donate blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after stopping treatment, to ensure adequate clearance of the medication from the body before donation.
This medicine should not be taken if you are allergic to the drug or any other ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have liver or heart disease before starting treatment. Because this drug reduces the body's immune defences, it can increase the chance of skin cancer. Patients must take precautions to limit exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light.
Seek immediate medical attention if you develop bruising under the skin, fever, unexplained tiredness, dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision impairment, reduced urine output, or seizures after taking this medicine.
Renfor 180mg tablet is an immunosuppressive medication that may affect an infant's developing immune system and should be avoided during breastfeeding.
Uses
Prevent organ transplant rejections.
How it works
Renfor 180mg tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) and reducing the production of guanosine nucleotides. MMF specifically affects the proliferation of activated T and B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are key players in the immune response that can lead to the rejection of a transplanted organ.
How to Use
It is an orally available prescription drug. Your physician will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease condition, severity, and other factors. Always take Renfor 180mg tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not open, crush, break, or chew the medicine. Take the medicine at the same time every day as advised by your doctor.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Serious Infections, fever, or sore throat Unusual bleeding or bruising Low blood cell count Severe allergic reactions Common Higher risk of developing lymphoma and other cancers Nausea, abdominal pain Diarrhea Constipation Loss of appetite Shortness of breath Weight loss Increased heartbeat Headache Blood pressure problem Anaemia
Expert Tips
It is necessary to take the prescribed dose exactly as instructed by your doctor. Inform your doctor about all the medications (prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal) you are taking, as they can interact with this drug. If you plan to conceive or suspect you might be pregnant while taking Renfor 180mg tablet, it is important to consult your doctor immediately. They may suggest switching to alternative medications that are safer during pregnancy or adjusting your treatment plan.
