Renvela 800mg Powder

Categories: Nephrology

Conditions: Kidney Disease

Product Introduction

Renvela Powder contains sevelamer, a phosphate binder medication. It is used to manage hyperphosphatemia (elevated blood phosphate levels) in adult patients undergoing dialysis (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) and patients with chronic kidney disease who have raised serum phosphorus levels. It should be used alongside other treatments, including calcium supplements and vitamin D, to help prevent bone disease. High blood phosphorus levels can lead to calcification, in which hard deposits accumulate and stiffen blood vessels, reducing blood flow.

Do not take Renvela 800mg Powder if you are allergic to sevelamer or any ingredient in the medication. Avoid this medicine if you have low phosphate levels or bowel obstruction.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you have difficulty swallowing or if your stomach and bowel have problems moving food. Also inform your doctor if you currently have bowel inflammation or have undergone major stomach or bowel surgery. Renvela Powder is not recommended for children under six years of age due to insufficient safety and efficacy data in this age group.

If your doctor has advised you about sugar intolerance, consult your doctor before taking this medication, as it contains lactose.
