Revugam 25mg Tablet is an anticoagulant medication in the thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist class, containing eltrombopag as the active ingredient. It is indicated for treating low platelet counts associated with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets, which are blood cells essential for clotting and protecting blood vessel walls. Low platelet levels can result in severe bleeding and bruising. The tablet is also used in adults for low blood counts caused by severe aplastic anaemia, a serious blood disease occurring when the bone marrow fails to produce adequate new blood cells.

This drug should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to the active ingredient or its components. Allergic reactions may range from mild to severe and include symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Revugam 25mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease. The medication can potentially cause hepatotoxicity, as indicated by increased liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Use in individuals with severe liver disease may further worsen liver function, so caution is advised.

Your doctor will recommend cataract screening. Regular eye testing should be arranged if you do not have routine examinations. You may also be checked for bleeding in or around your retina, the light-sensitive layer of cells at the back of the eye. If you discontinue this tablet, your blood platelet count is likely to fall again within several days. Platelet count will be monitored, and your doctor will discuss appropriate precautions. A very high blood platelet count may increase the risk of blood clotting, although blood clots can form with normal or even low platelet counts. Your doctor will adjust your dose to ensure your platelet count does not become too high.

Do not take this tablet with dairy products or drinks, as calcium in these items affects medicine absorption. Use effective birth control during treatment, and inform your doctor if you become pregnant. Revugam 25mg Tablet is not advised for children under one year with ITP. It is also not recommended for patients under 18 years with low platelet counts caused by hepatitis C or severe aplastic anaemia. Inform your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take other medicines, including those obtained without prescription and vitamins.

It is an orally available prescription drug. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the drug based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take an Revugam 25mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow the whole tablet with water.

Ensure that in the 2 hours after or 4 hours before you take this medication, you don’t consume dairy foods (such as cheese or butter), milk or milkshakes, antacids, and supplements containing iron, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, selenium, zinc, or calcium. If you forget to take the Revugam 25mg Tablet, take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take more than one dose of this drug daily. Don’t stop taking this tablet without talking to your doctor. If your doctor advises you to stop treatment, your platelet count will be checked each week for four weeks. If you have any doubts regarding the use of this medicine, ask your doctor.
