Product Introduction

Ristova 100mg Injection contains Rituximab as its active ingredient and belongs to the class of medicines known as anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. It is prescribed to treat a variety of conditions in adults and, in some cases, children. The injection may be used alone or in combination with other medicines for the treatment of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer affecting B-lymphocytes, and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), a common type of blood cancer involving B-cells. It is also used with methotrexate to manage moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults who have not responded adequately to other treatments. In addition, Ristova 100mg Injection is indicated for granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) in adults and children aged 2 years and above, as well as for the treatment of moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris, an autoimmune disorder that causes painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes.

Do not use Ristova 100mg Injection if you are allergic to Rituximab or any of its ingredients, have a severely weakened immune system, or are suffering from a serious active infection. Before starting treatment, inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of heart disease, heart failure, breathing disorders, or previous hepatitis B infection, as Rituximab may reactivate hepatitis B in certain patients, which can become life-threatening. Your doctor may recommend blood tests and regular monitoring throughout treatment to ensure the medicine is safe and effective.

Common side effects of Ristova 100mg Injection include blood infections, low red blood cell count (anaemia), dizziness, swelling of the face or body, itchy skin, diarrhoea, excessive sweating, and changes in blood pressure, including both high and low blood pressure. This medicine can also cause serious infusion-related reactions during administration or within 24 hours after receiving the injection. Symptoms such as chest pain, headache, breathing difficulty, vomiting, skin rash, throat swelling, or sudden changes in blood pressure require immediate medical attention. Ristova 100mg Injection is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the baby. Women who can become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for 12 months after the final dose. Always inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you are taking before beginning therapy to minimise the risk of drug interactions and complications.

Uses

Non-hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) Rheumatoid Arthritis Granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis Pemphigus vulgaris

How it works

Ristova 100mg injection is a monoclonal antibody that targets the antigen CD20 expressed on the cell surface of B-lymphocytes (a type of white blood cells). When this medicine binds to the B-cell, it induces cell death in NHL and CLL. The binding action blocks cell activation and growth and cause anticancer effects. It inhibits rheumatoid factor production, antigen presentation, T-cell activation, and proinflammatory cytokine production in rheumatoid arthritis.

How to Use

It should only be administered by a trained doctor or nurse. Do not self-administer the injection. Before giving Ristova 100mg injection, you will be given other medications (pre-medication) to reduce the possible side effects. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of your treatment based on the disease severity and other factors. It will be given as an intravenous infusion, and you will be monitored carefully for any unwanted side effects.

Expert Tips

Avoid vaccines before and during therapy. Inform your physician if you have been vaccinated recently because Ristova 100mg injection may cause drug-induced immunosuppression. Report to your doctor immediately if you face any symptoms like chest pain, breathing difficulties, stomach pain, and skin reactions. There is limited information available on the safety of this medicine in renal failure patients; inform your physician if you have kidney disease. Vaccination with live virus vaccines is not recommended before or during the treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Inform your healthcare professional if you have any active infection during the treatment.
