Product Introduction

Rixmin 400mg Tablet contains Rifaximin as its active ingredient and belongs to the antibiotic class of medicines. It is commonly prescribed to treat traveller’s diarrhoea caused by non-invasive Escherichia coli (E. coli) in adults. It is also used to reduce the recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy, a brain disorder associated with advanced liver disease. Many doctors prescribe Rixmin 400mg for hepatic encephalopathy, often in combination with lactulose to improve treatment outcomes. In addition, this medicine may be recommended for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with diarrhoea and certain digestive conditions caused by bacterial overgrowth. The appropriate Rixmin 400mg dosage should always be determined by your doctor according to your medical condition.

Do not take Rixmin 400mg Tablet if you are allergic to Rifaximin or other rifamycin antibiotics such as rifampicin, rifamycin, or rifabutin. This medicine is also not recommended for patients with intestinal obstruction or those experiencing high fever with bloody stools, as these conditions may require different treatment. Patients with liver disease should inform their doctor before starting therapy so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

The most commonly reported side effects of Rixmin 400mg Tablet include nausea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal pain, and swelling of the legs. Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider and complete the recommended course for the best results.

How it works

Rixmin 400mg Tablet acts by binding to the bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase blocking one of the steps in the transcription process. This results in the inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis and consequently inhibits the growth of bacteria.

How to Use

Always use this medicine as exactly prescribed by your doctor. Depending on the condition being treated, your physician decides the dose, dosage, and duration of the treatment. Take the tablet at the same time every day, with or without food. Swallow the tablets with a glass of water. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablets.

Lungs: Consult your doctor It is not known whether Rixmin 400mg Tablet can be used in patients with lung disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any lung diseases before starting the treatment.

Breastfeeding: unsafe Breastfeeding is not recommended in patients taking Rixmin 400mg Tablet because the medicine passes into the breast milk in small amounts and may harm your baby. Do not breastfeed during the treatment.
