Product Introduction
Romstim 500mcg Injection is a platelet-stimulating agent containing Romiplostim 500mcg as the active ingredient. It is used to treat immune primary thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition in which the body's immune system mistakenly destroys its own platelets, resulting in low platelet counts. Romstim 500mcg Injection is indicated in adults and children aged 18 years and above who have not responded to treatments such as immunoglobulins, corticosteroids, or splenectomy. Patients may also be prescribed related formulations such as Romiset 500mcg Injection, depending on availability and clinical need.
This medication is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Romiplostim or medicines produced using E. coli-based DNA technology. Before receiving this injection, inform your physician if you have liver problems, cancer, a recent surgery, smoking habits, or if you are taking birth control pills. These factors may influence the treatment's safety and effectiveness and help your doctor determine whether Romstim 500mcg is suitable for you.
During treatment, your physician will regularly monitor blood tests to check for abnormalities that may indicate bone marrow changes, as this drug has been associated with significant bone marrow alterations. Based on the results, your doctor may decide whether to continue or discontinue therapy.
Romstim 500mcg Injection is not recommended during pregnancy unless specifically advised by your doctor. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or suspect pregnancy before starting treatment. Since it is unknown whether the medication passes into breast milk, breastfeeding should be avoided.
Potential side effects of Romstim 500mcg Injection include headache, dizziness, bone pain, fatigue, and injection-site reactions. If a different formulation is more appropriate, your doctor may recommend an alternative based on therapeutic response and availability.
Uses
Treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP)
How it works
Romstim 500mcg Injection works by stimulating the production of platelets in the bone marrow. It binds to and activates the thrombopoietin receptor, which promotes the development and maturation of platelets. This helps to increase the platelet count in individuals with ITP.
