Product Introduction

Rotasiil Oral Vaccine contains Rotavirus vaccine as its active component. It is designed to protect against rotavirus infection. Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus that causes severe diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, and dehydration, particularly in young children. This vaccine has substantially reduced the incidence of rotavirus-related hospitalisations and associated complications, including severe diarrhoea and dehydration. Rotasiil Oral Vaccine is typically included in routine childhood immunisation schedules across many countries. The vaccine aims to prevent severe gastroenteritis caused by rotavirus. Widespread rotavirus vaccination protects vaccinated children and contributes to herd immunity in the community.

The vaccine must not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to it or its components. Intussusception is a rare medical condition in which one segment of the intestine invaginates into an adjacent segment. A small increased risk of intussusception has been observed following Rotasiil Oral Vaccine administration, particularly after the first dose. Children with severe immunodeficiency disorders, such as severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID), should not receive live attenuated vaccines including Rotasiil Oral Vaccine. In certain circumstances, if an infant has household contact with an individual with a known severe immunodeficiency disorder, healthcare providers may advise against live attenuated vaccine administration such as Rotasiil Oral Vaccine due to the theoretical risk of vaccine virus shedding to the immunocompromised contact.

Uses

Rotavirus vaccine is used in the treatment of the following: Rotavirus disease

How it works

Rotasiil Oral Vaccine works by introducing weakened forms of the virus into the body. These weakened strains stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies without causing the disease. If a vaccinated individual is later exposed to the rotavirus, their immune system recognises and fights it, preventing severe diarrhoea and related complications.

How to Use

The Rotasiil Oral Vaccine is administered orally in liquid drops or an oral syringe. This mode of administration is well-suited for infants and young children and involves giving the vaccine by mouth. The vaccines are typically given at specific intervals, following a recommended dosing schedule, to ensure optimal protection.

Side Effects

Lactitol causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious side effects of the Rotasiil Oral Vaccine are: Intussusception Allergic reactions Common side effects of the Rotasiil Oral Vaccine are: Irritability Mild diarrhoea or vomiting Fever Soreness at the injection site

Expert Tips

After taking the Rotasiil Oral Vaccine, evaluate individuals with moderate to severe acute illnesses, a history of gastrointestinal disorders, previous intussusception, severe immunodeficiency disorders, known allergies to vaccine components, households with immunocompromised members, and those with special medical conditions. Additionally, premature infants may warrant specific precautions, and individuals who have experienced significant adverse reactions to previous Rotasiil Oral Vaccine doses may warrant specific precautions. It's crucial to adhere to recommended age and dosing schedules, maintain vaccine brand consistency throughout the series, and follow proper storage and handling guidelines. Open communication with healthcare professionals is essential to address any concerns or questions about vaccination precautions effectively and ensure the safe and effective use of the Rotasiil Oral Vaccine
