Product Introduction
Rowasa 500mg pellets is an anti-inflammatory medicine containing the active ingredient Mesalazine. It is classed as an aminosalicylate and is used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis. Both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis are inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Ulcerative colitis primarily inflames the colon and rectum, causing diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. Crohn's ileocolitis affects the small intestine and colon, involving deeper layers of the intestinal wall and causing abdominal pain, weight loss, and complications.
Do not take Rowasa 500mg pellets if you are allergic to Mesalazine, aspirin, salicylate, or any of its ingredients. Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or blood abnormalities, or if you are taking other medicines such as sulphasalazine. This medicine is not suitable for children under 2 years of age.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of severe skin rash or skin peeling, blistering, and mouth sores. Before starting treatment with Rowasa 500mg pellets, your kidney and blood function will be assessed through tests. Your doctor will monitor your liver, kidney, and blood health periodically using blood and urine samples throughout your treatment.
Use of Rowasa 500mg pellets may lead to kidney stones, which could cause abdominal pain and blood in urine. Maintain adequate hydration during Rowasa 500mg pellets treatment.
