Product Introduction

Saaz Tablet contains Sulfasalazine as its active component. It is used to treat certain inflammatory conditions, particularly those affecting the gastrointestinal tract. It functions as a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) for managing symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder primarily affecting the joints. The medication helps manage symptoms and targets the underlying disease process, potentially slowing disease progression and joint damage. It is indicated for inflammatory bowel diseases including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. The medication can help maintain remission in inflammatory bowel diseases, reducing the likelihood of flare-ups and improving overall quality of life for patients with these chronic conditions.

Saaz Tablet should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to Sulfasalazine or any of its components. It is contraindicated in patients with complete intestinal or urinary tract obstruction. Avoid use in patients with porphyria. Patients with severe blood disorders such as aplastic anaemia or agranulocytosis should not use this medication. The medication may be used in children under specific circumstances, such as when treating juvenile idiopathic arthritis or other inflammatory conditions. Close monitoring of liver and kidney function is important, and potential interactions with other medications should be assessed.

How it works

Sulfasalazine works by reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune response that leads to the symptoms seen in these conditions. The 5-ASA component helps reduce inflammation in the gut, while the sulfapyridine component helps to deliver the 5-ASA to the desired site in the intestines.
