Product Introduction

Salsed 5mg injection is an anaesthetic agent in the benzodiazepine class containing midazolam as its active ingredient. It is used to treat status epilepticus (prolonged and continuous seizure activity or recurrent seizures without return to baseline neurological function between seizures), preoperative sedation (to help relax patients and reduce anxiety before surgery), and amnesia.

This injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug and should not be administered to such patients. The drug is also contraindicated in acute narrow-angle glaucoma, as benzodiazepines may further increase intraocular pressure, which can be harmful in this condition (narrow-angle glaucoma is a specific type of glaucoma that can cause sudden elevation of eye pressure).

Patients with severe breathing problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma should inform their doctor or nurse before being administered Salsed 5mg injection for conscious sedation. This drug can cause respiratory depression, which means it can slow down or decrease respiratory function. Patients who suspect pregnancy, are breastfeeding, or are planning to have a baby should report this to their physician. This drug during breastfeeding is unsafe as it is excreted in human milk.

Salsed 5mg injection is not intended for epidural or intrathecal administration due to the preservative benzyl alcohol present in the dosage form. Benzyl alcohol has been associated with serious adverse effects resulting in neurological toxicity.
