Product Introduction
Sedogest 300mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Ursodeoxycholic acid. It is a hepatoprotective agent used in the treatment of liver and biliary conditions associated with cystic fibrosis and primary biliary cholangitis. Primary biliary cholangitis is a liver disorder characterised by impaired bile drainage that damages liver tissues. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited condition affecting the liver and bile ducts, in which thickened mucus causes obstruction and inflammation.
Do not take this tablet if you are allergic to Ursodeoxycholic acid or any other ingredients in this medicine. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have acute inflammation of the gallbladder, a non-functional gallbladder, narrowing or blockage of the bile ducts, or a history of gallbladder conditions. If you have a history of liver disease or obstruction of bile passage, your doctor may monitor your liver function every four weeks during the first three months of treatment. Such monitoring helps enable early detection of acute liver failure, particularly in patients with advanced primary biliary cholangitis.
Before commencing treatment with Sedogest 300mg Tablet, notify your doctor if you have recently undergone intestinal surgery or hepatic encephalopathy (a nervous system disorder caused by severe liver disease), or if you have a liver bleeding disorder or any other liver-related condition. Report to your doctor if you have an underlying kidney condition, as there is limited information on the use of this tablet in patients with kidney disease.
Common side effects include pasty stool, diarrhoea, rash, and abdominal pain.
