Product Introduction

Selgin 5mg Tablet contains Selegiline as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medicines known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and is used to treat Parkinson’s disease. This medicine may be prescribed alone during the early stages of the condition or in combination with Levodopa later in treatment to help manage symptoms that fluctuate as the disease progresses.

Do not take Selgin 5mg Tablet if you are allergic to selegiline or any of its ingredients. Avoid using this medicine with antidepressants, opioid painkillers, other MAO inhibitors, migraine medicines, or sympathomimetic drugs due to the risk of serious interactions. It should also be avoided if you have stomach ulcers or movement disorders unrelated to Parkinson’s disease. Antidepressants should be discontinued several weeks before starting this medicine, as advised by your doctor. If Selgin 5mg Tablet is prescribed with Levodopa, it should not be used in patients with severe heart or blood vessel disorders, chest pain, uncontrolled high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, overactive thyroid, narrow-angle glaucoma, adrenal gland tumors, prostate tumors, schizophrenia, or advanced dementia. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure, palpitations, anxiety, sleep disorders, a history of stomach ulcers, or are receiving treatment for mental illness. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking Levodopa, planning to undergo surgery, or have experienced unusual compulsive behaviours such as excessive gambling or increased sexual urges. Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.
