Product Introduction
Simulect 20mg injection contains basiliximab, a monoclonal antibody classified as an immunosuppressant. It is used to prevent rejection of kidney transplants and is administered within the first 4 to 6 weeks following transplantation. The medicine is suitable for use in adults, adolescents, and children. When a transplanted organ is introduced into the body, the immune system recognises it as foreign material and attempts to reject it. Basiliximab works by inhibiting the immune cells responsible for attacking the transplanted organ. Following treatment with Simulect 20mg injection, your doctor may prescribe additional medicines such as ciclosporin and corticosteroids to protect the new kidney.
Do not use Simulect 20mg injection if you are allergic to basiliximab or any other ingredients in the formulation, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have had a previous kidney transplant that failed after a brief period, or if you have undergone an unsuccessful transplant procedure. Do not receive any vaccine without consulting your doctor first. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Use effective contraception to prevent pregnancy during therapy and for up to 4 months after the last dose. Do not breastfeed for up to 4 months after the second dose. Discuss any fertility concerns with your doctor.

How it works
Simulect 20mg injection is a monoclonal antibody. It targets and inhibits the activation of an interleukin-2 receptor alpha (IL-2Rα) receptor. This action will reduce the activation and proliferation of immune cells, particularly T lymphocytes (T cells), which are involved in organ rejection.
How to Use
Simulect 20mg injection will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. It is usually administered as an intravenous injection into a vein. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration, and frequency based on your disease condition and other factors.

Safety Advice
Pregnancy: unsafe Simulect 20mg injection is unsafe during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. Report to your medical professional if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, or planning for the pregnancy before starting the treatment. Use effective contraception during and after the last dose for up to four months.
Lungs: Consult your doctor It is unknown whether Simulect 20mg injection is safe for patients with lung problems. Inform your physician if you have any lung disease before starting the treatment. Contact your doctor if you experience any lung-related symptoms.
Breastfeeding: unsafe Taking Simulect 20mg injection while breastfeeding may be unsafe because it may affect the child. Do not breastfeed for at least four months after the second dose. Therefore, talk with your doctor to get more information.
