Product Introduction
Sivel 400mg tablet contains sevelamer, a phosphate binder. It is indicated for the management of hyperphosphatemia in adult patients on dialysis (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) and patients with chronic kidney disease presenting with elevated serum phosphorus levels. Use should be combined with other treatments, including calcium supplements and vitamin D, to prevent bone disease. Elevated blood phosphorus can lead to calcification, resulting in hard deposits that stiffen blood vessels and impair blood flow.
Do not use Sivel 400mg tablet if you have a known allergy to sevelamer or any ingredient in the formulation. Avoid this medicine if you have hypophosphatemia or bowel obstruction.
Before commencing treatment, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Notify your doctor if you have difficulty swallowing or if gastric and bowel motility is impaired. Inform your doctor of any active bowel inflammation or history of major gastrointestinal surgery.
Sivel 400mg tablet is not recommended for children under six years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established in this age group. If your doctor has identified sugar intolerance, consult your doctor before taking this medication, as it contains lactose.

How it works
Sivel 400mg tablet functions by binding phosphate from ingested food within the digestive tract, thereby reducing phosphorus levels in the bloodstream.
How to Use
Take the Sivel 400mg tablet as your physician advises. Take medicine at a fixed time. It is given based on the level of phosphate in the blood. Usually, it is given three times a day with food. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises.
