Product Introduction

Sizlac 100mg Tablet contains lacosamide, an anticonvulsant medication used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures affecting one part of the brain) in adults and children aged 1 month and older. It is also used in combination with other medications to control primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures (formerly called grand mal seizures, affecting the entire body) in adults and children aged 4 years and older. Sizlac 100mg Tablet is often prescribed as add-on therapy alongside other antiepileptic medications when current drugs do not adequately control seizures. This makes it a valuable treatment option for patients with inadequate seizure control on their current medication alone.

Sizlac 100mg Tablet should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug or its components. Allergic reactions can be severe, including rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing. The medication is generally well-tolerated by many patients, though side effects are possible and not experienced by all. Common side effects such as dizziness and nausea are usually mild and may decrease over time.

Sizlac 100mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with a history of heart rhythm problems. The medication can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision. While beneficial for many individuals, it may carry a potential risk of addiction. This risk may be heightened in patients with a history of substance use disorder involving excessive use or dependency on drugs or alcohol. To avoid complications, it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and refrain from increasing the dose, taking it more frequently, or extending the duration of use beyond what your healthcare provider recommends.

Uses

Sizlac 100mg Tablet is used in the treatment of the following: Seizures

How it works

Sizlac 100mg Tablet works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It is thought to do this by blocking the movement of sodium ions into neurons. This prevents neurons from firing too quickly, which can help to prevent seizures.

How to Use

Sizlac 100mg is given via intravenous (IV) injection, offering flexibility in dosing and administration. The recommended dosage and administration of Sizlac 100mg Tablet depend on the patient's age, weight, medical condition, and response to other medications. Patients must follow their healthcare provider's instructions carefully and attend regular check-ups to monitor the drug's effectiveness.
