Product Introduction
Sizlac 10mg Injection contains lacosamide, an anticonvulsant used to treat partial-onset seizures (seizures affecting one part of the brain) in adults and children 1 month of age and older. It is also used in combination with other medications to control primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures (formerly called grand mal seizure, affecting the entire body) in adults and children 4 years and older. Sizlac 10mg Injection is often prescribed as add-on therapy alongside other antiepileptic medications when current drugs do not adequately control seizures. This makes it a valuable treatment option for patients who lack adequate seizure control with their current medications alone.
Sizlac 10mg Injection should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug or its components. Allergic reactions can be severe, including symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing. The medication is generally well-tolerated by many patients, and side effects, though possible, are not experienced by everyone. Common side effects such as dizziness and nausea are usually mild and may decrease over time.
Sizlac 10mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with a history of heart rhythm problems. It can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision. While this medication can benefit many patients, it may carry a potential risk of addiction. This risk could be heightened if you have a history of substance use disorder involving excessive use or dependency on drugs or alcohol. To avoid complications, it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and refrain from increasing the dose, taking it more frequently, or extending the duration of use beyond what your healthcare provider recommends.
Uses
Sizlac 10mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following: Seizures
How it works
Sizlac Injection works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It is thought to do this by blocking the movement of sodium ions into neurons. This prevents neurons from firing too quickly, which can help to prevent seizures.
How to Use
Sizlac injection is given via intravenous (IV) injection, offering flexibility in dosing and administration. The recommended dosage and administration of Sizlac 10mg Injection depend on the patient's age, weight, medical condition, and response to other medications. Patients must follow their healthcare provider's instructions carefully and attend regular check-ups to monitor the drug's effectiveness.
Side Effects
Sizlac 10mg Injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious side effects of Sizlac 10mg Injection are: Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing) Suicidal thoughts or behaviors Mood changes (anxiety, irritability, aggression, depression) Changes in cognitive function (difficulty concentrating, memory problems) Cardiac effects (changes in heart rate, rhythm, or conduction) Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to light) Worsening seizures Vision changes Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a rare and severe skin reaction) Multi-organ hypersensitivity syndrome (DRESS syndrome) Blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia) Common side effects of Sizlac 10mg Injection are: Dizziness Headache Nausea Vomiting Blurred vision Diplopia (double vision) Tremor Fatigue Insomnia Abnormal coordination Constipation
