Product Introduction

Stamaril Injection contains the Yellow Fever Vaccine as its active component. It is used to protect against yellow fever, a serious viral infection spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes, particularly Aedes aegypti. This vaccine provides effective and long-lasting immunity, often lasting a lifetime after a single dose. In addition to protecting vaccinated individuals, widespread immunization helps reduce the spread of the virus within communities and lowers the overall burden of yellow fever on healthcare systems.

Do not receive Stamaril Injection if you have previously experienced a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to the vaccine or any of its components, including eggs or gelatin. It is generally not recommended for people with weakened immune systems due to conditions such as HIV/AIDS, certain cancers, or treatment with immunosuppressive medicines, including high-dose corticosteroids or chemotherapy. Individuals with severe thymus disorders, such as DiGeorge syndrome, or those who have had their thymus gland removed should also avoid this vaccine. People with a known allergy to sorbitol should not receive Stamaril Injection. This vaccine is not recommended for infants younger than 6 months of age. Older adults may receive the vaccine if they are in good health and meet the recommended eligibility criteria. Always consult your healthcare provider before vaccination to determine if it is suitable for you.

Uses

Stamaril injection is used for the following: Prevent yellow fever Travel health Epidemic control Laboratory workers Occupational risk

How it works

The Stamaril injection functions by introducing a weakened form of the yellow fever virus into the body. This weakened virus triggers an immune response, teaching the immune system to recognize and defend against the virus. In the event of future exposure to the virus, the immune system is prepared to swiftly and effectively combat it, protecting against yellow fever.

How to Use

The Stamaril injection is typically administered via a single subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. This administration route allows the vaccine to enter the bloodstream and stimulate the immune system to develop protection against the yellow fever virus. It is a standard practice to administer the vaccine just under the skin, usually in the upper arm.

Side Effects

The Stamaril injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious Respiratory depression Cardiovascular effects Malignant hyperthermia Allergic reactions Liver and kidney function changes Neurological effects Common Nausea and vomiting Headache Sore throat and cough Shivering Confusion or memory changes

Expert Tips

Individuals planning to receive the Stamaril injection should consult a healthcare provider experienced in travel medicine for personalized guidance. Precautions include assessing overall health, discussing medical history and medications, considering potential allergies, verifying vaccine availability, adhering to recommended timing, and obtaining an International Certificate of Vaccination. Special attention is warranted for pregnant and breastfeeding individuals, those with weakened immune systems, and individuals with severe allergies. While traveling, it is vital to stay informed about regional vaccination requirements, potential outbreaks, and emergency medical care options.
