Product Introduction
Staphar 1gm injection contains flucloxacillin, an antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class of drugs. It is used to treat various bacterial infections caused by bacterial strains sensitive to its antimicrobial effects. It is commonly prescribed for infections caused by Staphylococcus bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus. This medication is often used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, including boils, abscesses, cellulitis, and wound infections. Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection characterised by redness, swelling, and pain. This medication can also treat certain respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is important to use it under the guidance and prescription of a qualified healthcare provider.
Individuals with a history of hypersensitivity or severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics should not take Staphar 1gm injection. You should avoid taking this medication if you have a history of jaundice, characterised by yellowing of the skin and eyes, associated with penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics. It should be avoided in individuals with infectious mononucleosis, as it may lead to a rash. It should be used cautiously in individuals with certain medical conditions, such as kidney impairment or a history of gastrointestinal disease. It can be safe for children when prescribed by a healthcare provider. Elderly individuals can take Staphar 1gm injection, but their kidney and liver function may impact the dosing.
Uses
Staphar 1gm injection is used in the following: Skin and soft tissue infections Bone and joint infections Respiratory tract infections Endocarditis prophylaxis Staphylococcal infections
How it works
Staphar 1gm injection exerts its therapeutic effect through inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. As a beta-lactam antibiotic, it interferes with the activity of enzymes known as penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) that are crucial for cross-linking bacterial cell wall components. Disrupting this process weakens the integrity of the bacterial cell wall, leading to osmotic instability and, ultimately, bacterial cell death. This mechanism primarily targets bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, rendering them susceptible to the drug's action.
How to Use
Staphar 1gm injection is given as an injection by a healthcare provider. The frequency depends on age weight, and severity of the condition,, and is decided by a healthcare provider.
Side Effects
Staphar 1gm injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious Severe allergic reactions Severe skin reactions Liver dysfunction Common Gastrointestinal disturbances Skin rash Yeast infections Digestive upset Pain or inflammation at the injection site (IV formulation)
