Product Introduction

Staphar 500mg Injection contains flucloxacillin, an antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class of drugs. It is used to treat various bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacterial strains, primarily those sensitive to its antimicrobial activity. It is commonly prescribed for infections caused by Staphylococcus bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus. This medication is often used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, including boils, abscesses, cellulitis, and wound infections. Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection characterised by redness, swelling, and pain. This medication can also treat certain respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is important to use it under the guidance and prescription of a qualified healthcare provider.

Patients with a history of hypersensitivity or severe allergic reactions (such as anaphylaxis) to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics should not take Staphar 500mg Injection. It should be avoided in patients with a history of jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) associated with penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics. It should be avoided in patients with infectious mononucleosis (mono or glandular fever), as it may lead to a rash. It should be used cautiously in patients with certain medical conditions, such as kidney impairment or a history of gastrointestinal disease. It can be safe for children when prescribed by a healthcare provider. Elderly patients can take Staphar 500mg Injection, but their kidney and liver function may impact the dosing.

Uses

Staphar 500mg Injection is used in the following: Skin and soft tissue infections Bone and joint infections Respiratory tract infections Endocarditis prophylaxis Staphylococcal infections.

How it works

Staphar 500mg Injection exerts its therapeutic effect through inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. As a beta-lactam antibiotic, it interferes with the activity of enzymes known as penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) that are crucial for cross-linking bacterial cell wall components. Disrupting this process weakens the integrity of the bacterial cell wall, leading to osmotic instability and, ultimately, bacterial cell death. This mechanism primarily targets bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus, rendering them susceptible to the drug's action.

How to Use

Staphar 500mg Injection is swallowed orally with a whole glass of water. The frequency depends on age, weight, and severity of the condition, and is decided by a healthcare provider.

Side Effects

Staphar 500mg Injection causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious Severe allergic reactions Severe skin reactions Liver dysfunction Common Gastrointestinal disturbances Skin rash Yeast infections Digestive upset Pain or inflammation at the injection site (IV formulation).

Expert Tips

Inform your healthcare provider about any allergies, especially to penicillin antibiotics, and any previous adverse reactions to antibiotics before starting Staphar 500mg Injection. Patients with liver conditions or renal impairment need close monitoring, as the drug is metabolised in the liver and excreted through the kidneys. Complete the full prescribed course to prevent antibiotic resistance. Inform your doctor if you have underlying medical conditions, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications. Be cautious of potential drug interactions and report any severe side effects, such as serious skin reactions or allergic responses, immediately. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience unusual symptoms during treatment. Follow storage instructions carefully and keep the medication away from children and pets.
