Product Introduction

Sulbamed 1 gm Injection contains the active ingredient sulbactam sodium. It is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that works alongside other antibiotics to treat various drug-resistant bacterial infections. Sulbamed prevents bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) from breaking down antibiotics, thereby increasing their effectiveness. This injection also demonstrates direct antimicrobial activity against specific bacteria including Acinetobacter species, Bacteroides fragilis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Neisseria meningitidis. Before commencing this treatment, inform your doctor if you have an allergy to penicillin or other antibiotics. Patients with a history of mononucleosis (a viral infection) should not receive this medication. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD) is a commonly reported side effect. Notify your doctor if you are taking probenecid, as it may alter how Sulbamed 1 Injection functions. Provide your doctor with a complete list of all current medications and your full medical history before beginning this treatment.

Uses

Doctors prescribe Sulbamed 1gm inj for the following infections: Lower respiratory tract infections Bacteraemia or sepsis Meningitis Surgical wound infections Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

How it works

Sulbamed injection acts as an irreversible inhibitor of beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria. It binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and prevents the breakdown of antibiotics by resistant bacteria. This enhances the effectiveness of accompanying antibiotics while also exerting direct antibacterial action against some pathogens.
