Taffic Tablet

Taffic Tablet is an antiretroviral medication containing bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide. It is indicated for treatment of HIV-1 infection. HIV-1 is a human immunodeficiency virus that progressively weakens the immune system when untreated, leaving patients with HIV-1 vulnerable to opportunistic infections.

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to bictegravir, emtricitabine, tenofovir alafenamide, or any other ingredients in Taffic Tablet.

During early stages of HIV-1 treatment, patients may experience immune reconstitution syndrome—an inflammatory response to opportunistic infections. This can occur after initiating Taffic Tablet or other antiretroviral therapies. Monitor for signs of worsening infections or inflammatory symptoms and report these to your doctor.

Inform your doctor of any history of heart failure, pancreatitis, bone disease, fractures, liver disease, or kidney disease. Patients with pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis should use this combination cautiously. During treatment, your doctor may periodically monitor blood counts, bone mineral density, and liver and kidney function to prevent serious complications.

Adults of childbearing potential should use effective contraception to prevent unintended pregnancy. If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, your doctor may recommend an alternative treatment, as this combination is not recommended during early pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not recommended due to the risk of HIV-1 transmission from mother to infant.

Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal supplements, to prevent potential drug interactions.

Treatment of Human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) Infection

Taffic Tablet combines integrase strand transfer inhibitors and nucleoside, nucleotide analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors. It increases the number of CD4 T cells and stimulates the immune system to fight against infections. Thereby, it reduces the viral load of HIV in the blood and decreases the severity of HIV infection.

Take the Taffic Tablet as advised by your physician. Swallow the tablets whole and intact. This tablet should be taken with food. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the medicine if your doctor advises you to stop.

To prevent the spread of HIV-1 infection, avoid sharing needles or syringes, which can transmit HIV-1 infections easily. It's necessary for individuals who use injectable drugs to use sterile needles and syringes and never share them with others. Personal items like toothbrushes, razor blades, or anything with body fluids or blood should also be avoided. They should not be shared because HIV-1 can be present in blood and certain body fluids, and sharing these items could mainly transmit the virus. Do not have any sex without protection. It is necessary to practice safe sex using a polyurethane condom or latex to lower the risk of sexual contact with semen, vaginal secretions, or blood. If you remember to take a Taffic Tablet for the entire day, take your usual dose the next day. However, do not double-dose yourself. Do not store this tablet in a moist place like a bathroom cabinet or near the kitchen sink. Keep your tablet in a tightly closed container. Do not accept if the seal over the bottle opening is broken or missing. This medicine was prescribed for your specific condition. Please do not use it for other conditions. Do not give this tablet to others, even if they have the same symptoms like you have. It may harm them.
