Tecum 0.03% Ointment 10gm contains Tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant belonging to the calcineurin inhibitor class. It is used primarily to prevent organ transplant rejection (including kidney, liver, or heart transplants) by enabling the body to accept the new organ and modulating immune response. It is also prescribed for certain skin conditions resulting from an overactive immune system. Although Tecum 0.03% is a lower-strength formulation, it functions similarly to other Tacrolimus 0.03 preparations in treating eczema and associated skin inflammation. Do not use this ointment if you are allergic to Tacrolimus or related antibiotics, particularly macrolides. Inform your doctor if you have liver or heart disease prior to beginning treatment. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop serious symptoms including fever, unexplained fatigue, red spots or bruising beneath the skin, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision disturbances, confusion, reduced urine output, or seizures. Limit exposure to sunlight or UV rays by applying high-SPF sunscreen and wearing protective clothing while using Tacrolimus. This ointment may cause diarrhoea, which should be reported to your doctor if it persists for longer than one day. If you are due to receive any vaccinations, consult your doctor beforehand. Tecum 0.03% Ointment 10gm provides immunosuppression by inhibiting T-lymphocyte activation and proliferation and T-helper-cell-dependent B-cell response. It works by attaching to a protein called FKBP-12 and forms a complex called tacrolimus-FKBP, which inhibits the action of calcineurin phosphatase. This, in turn, inhibits the formation of T cells and suppresses the immune response.
