Product Introduction
Telma 80mg tablet is an antihypertensive agent containing Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Angiotensin II is a naturally occurring substance that constricts blood vessels and elevates blood pressure. This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (essential hypertension) in adults—specifically hypertension not caused by an underlying condition. It works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, allowing blood vessels to relax and reducing blood pressure. Telma 80mg tablet is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events (stroke, heart attack, or heart failure) in adults.
Do not take Telma 80mg tablet if you are allergic to Telmisartan or any other ingredients in the formulation. Avoid this medicine if you have severe liver disease (including cholestasis or biliary obstruction), diabetes, or impaired kidney function treated with aliskiren (an antihypertensive agent).
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Also notify your doctor if you have renal artery stenosis (narrowing of one or both renal arteries), kidney transplant, elevated aldosterone levels (affecting water and salt regulation), hypotension (low blood pressure), raised potassium levels, or diabetes.
Telma 80mg tablet is not recommended during early pregnancy and should not be used beyond the first three months of pregnancy. Use in patients below 18 years of age is not recommended. Inform your doctor if you have intolerance to sugars, as this tablet contains lactose.
