Product Introduction
Telma AM H 40mg tablet is an antihypertensive medication containing a combination of telmisartan, hydrochlorothiazide, and amlodipine. It is used for the treatment of hypertension when a single antihypertensive agent is insufficient to control blood pressure. Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood exerts pressure on artery walls, potentially leading to heart disease, irregular heartbeat, and other cardiovascular complications.
Common side effects reported with Telma AM H 40mg tablet include sleepiness, ankle swelling, nausea, headache, flushing, dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, stomach upset, peripheral oedema, and mood changes. Inform your doctor if you experience any persistent or troubling side effects.
Before taking this medication, inform your physician if you have hypersensitivity to any ingredient in Telma AM H 40mg tablet. Report immediately to your doctor if you have anuria (reduction in urine production due to kidney impairment) or diabetes.
This medication is not recommended for patients with hypotension, liver disease, kidney disease, heart failure, electrolyte imbalances, or metabolic disorders. Telma AM H 40mg tablet is contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, as it may reduce fetal renal function and cause adverse effects on fetal development.
Uses
Treats hypertension (high blood pressure).
How it works
Telmisartan works by preventing the action of certain substances that tighten blood vessels. It improves blood flow and increases the heart's ability to pump blood effectively throughout the body. Amlodipine acts by relaxing and enlarging the blood vessels. The function of hydrochlorothiazide is to eliminate excess water and electrolytes from the body through urine. Hence, Telma AM H 40mg tablet lowers high blood pressure and lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
How to Use
Take the Telma AM H 40mg tablet as your physician advises. Usually, the tablets will be taken with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the tablet if your doctor advises you to stop.
