Product Introduction
Telma Beta 50mg Tablet is an antihypertensive medication containing a combination of Telmisartan and Metoprolol. It is used for treatment of hypertension when a single antihypertensive agent is ineffective in controlling blood pressure. Hypertension is a medical condition characterised by elevated force exerted by blood on artery walls, which can lead to heart disease, irregular heartbeat, and related complications.
Common side effects include hypotension, headache, tiredness, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness, shortness of breath, cold extremities, itchy skin, rashes, increased potassium level in blood, and vertigo. Inform your healthcare provider if these side effects persist or cause concern.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience sepsis, angioedema (swelling of skin and mucosa), or orthostatic hypotension (dizziness on standing).
Before commencing treatment with Telma Beta 50mg Tablet, inform your physician if you have any allergic reaction to Telmisartan, Metoprolol, or their ingredients. Also report if you have kidney disease, severe liver disease such as cholestasis or biliary obstruction, heart problems, low blood pressure, diabetes, elevated potassium levels, renal artery stenosis, raised aldosterone levels, cardiogenic shock, phaeochromocytoma, or are planning surgery.
Your doctor may perform regular monitoring of your kidney function, blood pressure, and electrolyte levels (potassium) at intervals throughout treatment.
Telma Beta 50mg Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents aged below 18 years.
Uses
Treats essential hypertension (high blood pressure).
How it works
Telmisartan works by preventing the action of certain substances that tighten blood vessels. It improves blood flow and increases the heart's ability to pump blood effectively throughout the body. Metoprolol functions specifically on the heart to lower heart rate and reduce blood pressure. Together, they improve the blood flow and pump the heart more efficiently.
How to Use
This medication is taken as per the advice of the doctor. Telma beta 50mg tablet can be taken with food or without food. Your doctor will decide the dose, dosage, and duration of the treatment based on your condition and other factors. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or break it.

Serious Sepsis (blood infection) Angioedema (swelling of skin and mucosa) Dizziness on standing up (orthostatic hypotension) Common Hypotension (low blood pressure) Bradycardia (slow heart rate) Shortness of breath Headache Tiredness Dizziness Stomach pain Nausea, vomiting Diarrhea Weakness Cold extremities Increased potassium level in the blood Itchy skin and rashes Anemia (decreased red blood cells) Vertigo (sudden internal or external spinning sensation)
Expert Tips
It is suggested to monitor your blood pressure regularly to prevent hypotension. Get up slowly while rising from a lying or sitting position, as Telma beta 50mg tablet may cause dizziness. Prolonged intake of this medication can cause an altered potassium level. So, regular monitoring of potassium is advised. If you undergo surgery, inform the doctor that you are taking this tablet. It is advised to restrict salt and fat intake in the diet.
