Tenohep 300mg Tablet

Tenohep 300mg tablet contains Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, an antiretroviral and antiviral medicine belonging to the nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) class. It is used to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and HBV (hepatitis B virus) infections by inhibiting the enzymes HIV reverse transcriptase and hepatitis B DNA polymerase, which are essential for viral replication. For HIV infection, this medicine must always be used in combination with other medicines. The tablet is appropriate for adults and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. In adolescents with HIV, it is prescribed when previous antiretroviral medicines are no longer fully effective due to resistance or have caused adverse effects. Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients over 65 years of age.

Do not use this medication if you have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate or any ingredient in the formulation. During treatment with Tenohep 300mg tablet, your doctor may periodically assess your blood counts, bone mineral density, and liver and kidney function to prevent serious complications. Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart failure, pancreatitis, bone disease (osteonecrosis—bone tissue death), fractures, liver disease (chronic hepatitis B or C), or kidney problems. Tenohep 300mg tablet should not be given to adolescents with existing kidney impairment. If you have lactose intolerance, notify your doctor before beginning treatment. Inform your doctor if you are planning pregnancy, are pregnant, or may be pregnant. Breastfeeding is not recommended due to potential HIV transmission. Use effective contraception to prevent transmission of HIV infection to others.

Treatment of HIV and HBV infections

The reverse transcriptase enzyme produces copies of DNA from the HIV’s RNA. Tenohep 300mg tablet is a nucleotide analog that inhibits the reverse transcriptase enzyme and blocks DNA synthesis. It decreases the viral load of HIV in the blood and increases the number of CD4 (T) cells, enabling the immune system to fight other infections. This reduces the risk of severity and death associated with a weak immune system.

Tenohep 300mg tablet is available as film-coated tablets in a dose of 300mg. The usual recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet every day, with or without food. For adults and children with body weight over 3.5kg, the usual recommended dose is 300mg per day.
