Product Introduction
Thyrogen Kit 0.9mg Injection contains the active ingredient Thyrotropin Alfa. It is a recombinant thyroid-stimulating hormone that belongs to the class of diagnostic agents. This medicine is used in patients who have undergone thyroid gland removal and are receiving thyroid hormone replacement therapy to detect certain types of thyroid cancer. It is also administered along with radioiodine therapy to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue after thyroid surgery in patients without secondary cancer spread who are taking thyroid hormone replacement.
Do not use Thyrogen Kit 0.9mg Injection if you are allergic to Thyrotropin Alfa or any of its ingredients, or if you are pregnant. Inform your doctor before starting treatment if you have heart, kidney, or liver disease. As there is limited information available, the safety of this medicine in children has not been fully established. No specific precautions are required for elderly patients receiving this medicine. Avoid breastfeeding and pregnancy during treatment. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant before receiving this medicine.
Uses
Detects certain types of thyroid cancer removed after therapy. Eliminate leftover thyroid tissue after surgery in combination with radioiodine treatment.
How it works
Thyrogen kit 0.9mg injection is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone. The binding of this injection to TSH receptors on normal thyroid epithelial cells or well-differentiated thyroid cancer tissue stimulates iodine uptake and organification and synthesis and secretion of thyroglobulin (Tg), triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4). One of the effects is that it stimulates any remaining thyroid tissue to take up iodine which is important for radioiodine imaging. It also stimulates the production of thyroglobulin and thyroid hormones if there is any thyroid tissue left. These hormones can be measured in your blood.
How to Use
Thyrogen kit 0.9mg injection will be administered to you by a doctor or other healthcare professional in a hospital setting trained in cancer chemotherapy. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration, and duration of the therapy based on your disease status, severity, and other factors such as body weight, other disease conditions, and age. This medicine will be given intramuscularly. Do not self-administer the injection.
