Product Introduction

Tishtha 40mg Injection contains the active substance Nivolumab. It is indicated for the treatment of cancers of the skin, lungs, kidney, lymph nodes, bladder, oesophagus, and urinary tract. This medicine is indicated when cancer has recurred following treatment with medicines, surgery, and radiation. It is an immunotherapy medication that enhances the immune system's ability to fight cancer. It works by targeting and blocking specific molecules that suppress the immune system's capacity to recognise and attack cancer cells. By inhibiting these molecules, it strengthens the immune response against cancer and may reduce or slow tumour growth. A key advantage of this and other immunotherapy drugs is their potential to produce durable responses in some patients, even after treatment completion. This differs from traditional chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which typically offer temporary benefits and carry significant adverse effects. Tishtha is contraindicated in patients with severe hypersensitivity to the drug or its components. It is also contraindicated in patients with certain autoimmune disorders, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, because the drug can further stimulate the immune system and worsen these conditions. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of organ transplantation.

Uses

Advanced skin cancer (melanoma) Skin cancer that recurs after surgery Advanced non-small cell lung cancer Advanced kidney cancer Hodgkin’s lymphoma (lymph node disease) Advanced cancer of the head and neck Advanced urinary tract and bladder cancer Advanced oesophageal cancer

How it works

The therapeutic effect of Tishtha 40mg Injection is to enhance the body's natural immune response to cancer cells. Cancer cells can often evade the immune system by producing proteins that bind to immune cells and prevent them from recognizing and attacking the cancer cells. It works by blocking the interaction between a protein called programmed death-1 (PD-1), found on the surface of immune cells, and its corresponding ligands. Doing so enables the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively, helping to slow down or even stop cancer progression. In some cases, treatment with it can lead to long-lasting remission, even after treatment has ended. This is because the drug can stimulate the immune system to "remember" the cancer cells and continue to attack them even after the drug has been cleared from the body.
