Product Introduction
Tolvanix 15mg Tablet contains tolvaptan, a vasopressin antagonist. The medicine increases water excretion in urine, promoting aquaresis (water loss without electrolyte depletion) and reducing urine osmolarity (concentration measurement), which elevates serum sodium concentration. Close monitoring of blood sodium levels is essential during treatment. Patients should maintain adequate water intake to prevent dehydration; those with fluid restrictions should consult their healthcare provider. Before commencing treatment, inform your doctor of any kidney or liver disorders or allergies to benzazepine, tolvaptan, or related benzazepine derivatives. This medicine is contraindicated in patients with anuria (absent urine output), hypovolemic hyponatremia (combined deficiency of total body water and sodium), hypernatremia (elevated blood sodium), and those unable to perceive thirst. Discussion of your complete medical history with your doctor is recommended prior to treatment. Safety and efficacy in children under 18 years of age have not been established; consult your doctor before administering to paediatric patients.
Uses
Hyponatremia (Low sodium levels in the blood) Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease [ADPKD]
How it works
Tolvanix 15mg Tablet blocks the vasopressin hormone effect (antidiuretic hormone- that helps to prevent water loss), decreases the amount of water in your body by increasing urine production, and, as a result, raises the concentration of sodium in your blood.
How to Use
Take Tolvanix 15mg Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will provide the appropriate dose and frequency based on your medical condition and other factors. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Have plenty of water and contact your doctor immediately. If you have taken an excess tablet than the prescribed dosage, don't double up the medicine if you forgot to take the medicine.
