Product Introduction
Tosovap Tablet contains the active component tolvaptan, a vasopressin antagonist. The medicine works by increasing water excretion in urine, which promotes aquaresis (water loss without electrolyte depletion) and reduces urine osmolarity (a measure of urine concentration), thereby raising serum sodium levels. Blood sodium concentration requires close monitoring during treatment. Patients should maintain adequate water intake during therapy to prevent dehydration. Those with fluid restrictions should seek advice from their healthcare provider. Before commencing treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disorders, or are allergic to benzazepine, tolvaptan, or other benzazepine derivatives. This medicine is contraindicated in patients with anuria (absent urine output), hypovolemic hyponatremia (concurrent deficiency of total body water and sodium), hypernatraemia (elevated serum sodium), and patients lacking a functional thirst mechanism. Discussion of your complete medical history with your doctor is recommended. Safety and efficacy in children below 18 years of age have not been established; therefore, consult your doctor before administering this medicine to children.
Uses
Tosovap Tablet uses are: Hyponatremia (Low sodium levels in the blood) Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease [ADPKD]
How it works
Tosovap Tablet blocks the vasopressin hormone effect (antidiuretic hormone- that helps to prevent water loss), decreases the amount of water in your body by increasing urine production, and, as a result, raises the concentration of sodium in your blood.
How to Use
Take Tosovap Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will provide the appropriate dose and frequency based on your medical condition and other factors. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Have plenty of water and contact your doctor immediately. If you have taken an excess tablet than the prescribed dosage, don't double up the medicine if you forgot to take the medicine.
