Product Introduction
Toujeo Cartridge contains insulin glargine, a long-acting insulin used to help control blood sugar levels in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is suitable for use in adults and children aged 2 years and older. Insulin is essential for allowing glucose to enter the body's cells, where it is converted into energy. When the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use it effectively, glucose builds up in the bloodstream, increasing the risk of long-term diabetes-related complications. Toujeo Cartridge is commonly prescribed in India when blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with oral antidiabetic medicines or shorter-acting insulin preparations. It provides steady blood sugar control for up to 24 hours, reducing the need for multiple daily injections and offering added convenience for patients using a Toujeo Cartridge reusable pen. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart disease, as these conditions may require dose adjustments or closer monitoring. Blood sugar levels may also change during pregnancy, illness, stress, or while taking other medications, so it is important to keep your healthcare provider informed about any changes in your health or treatment routine to ensure safe and effective diabetes management.
Uses
Toujeo Cartridge is used for: Managing blood sugar levels in type 1 diabetes Managing blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
How it works
Toujeo Cartridge contains insulin glargine, a modified form of human insulin. Once injected, it provides a slow and steady release of insulin into the bloodstream. This helps: Increase glucose uptake into muscle and fat cells Suppress glucose production by the liver As a result, blood sugar levels remain stable throughout the day and night, reducing the risk of both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia when used correctly.
Side Effects
Like all medications, Toujeo Cartridge can cause side effects. Most are manageable with proper monitoring: Serious: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) – signs include sweating, dizziness, shakiness, fast heartbeat Severe allergic reactions (rare) Common: Weight gain Swelling in hands or feet Skin changes at the injection site (thickening, redness, or pits)
Expert Tips
Always carry glucose tablets or a sugary snack in case of low blood sugar episodes. Monitor your blood sugar regularly using a glucometer, especially if you're on other medications or changing diet/exercise routines. Rotate injection sites to avoid skin irritation or thickening Don't skip meals while on long-acting insulin—doing so can trigger hypoglycemia. Avoid reusing needles and store your insulin properly for full potency. Discuss alternatives with your doctor if you're unable to afford the Toujeo Cartridge price or prefer a different insulin format. Options like Toujeo Cartridge alternative insulins may be available.
