Product Introduction

Toujeo Cartridge 5's contains insulin glargine, a long-acting insulin used to help control blood sugar levels in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is suitable for adults and children aged 2 years and above. Insulin helps move glucose from the bloodstream into the body's cells, where it is used to produce energy. When the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use it properly, blood sugar levels rise, increasing the risk of serious diabetes-related complications over time. Toujeo Cartridge 5's is commonly prescribed in India for patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with oral antidiabetic medicines or shorter-acting insulin formulations. It provides continuous blood sugar control for up to 24 hours, reducing the need for multiple daily injections and offering greater convenience for patients using a Toujeo Cartridge 5's reusable pen. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart conditions, as these may require careful monitoring or dosage adjustments. Blood sugar requirements may also change during pregnancy, illness, stress, or while taking certain medications, so it is important to keep your healthcare provider informed about any changes in your health or daily routine to ensure safe and effective diabetes management.

Uses

Toujeo Cartridge 5's is used for: Managing blood sugar levels in type 1 diabetes. Managing blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes.

How it works

Toujeo Cartridge 5's contains insulin glargine, a modified form of human insulin. Once injected, it provides a slow and steady release of insulin into the bloodstream. This helps: Increase glucose uptake into muscle and fat cells Suppress glucose production by the liver As a result, blood sugar levels remain stable throughout the day and night, reducing the risk of both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia when used correctly.

Side Effects

Like all medications, Toujeo Cartridge 5's can cause side effects. Most are manageable with proper monitoring: Serious: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) – signs include sweating, dizziness, shakiness, fast heartbeat Severe allergic reactions (rare) Common: Weight gain Swelling in hands or feet Skin changes at the injection site (thickening, redness, or pits).
