Product Introduction
Trofame 60mg capsule contains trospium chloride. It is indicated for treatment of symptoms associated with overactive bladder (OAB). Overactive bladder is characterised by involuntary bladder muscle contractions leading to frequent urination, urgency to urinate, and sometimes urinary incontinence. This medication works to improve bladder control by reducing the frequency of urination urgency, making it easier to retain urine until toilet access is available. It may also be used in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and chronic constipation.
Trofame 60mg capsule is contraindicated in patients with documented hypersensitivity to trospium chloride or any excipient. It should not be used in patients with urinary retention, a condition in which the bladder cannot empty completely. It is contraindicated in glaucoma, as it may worsen this eye condition affecting the optic nerve. Cautious use is advised in patients with cardiac disease, as the drug may reduce heart rate. Cautious use is also recommended in patients with renal disease, as elimination may be delayed. While generally tolerated in older adults, careful consideration is necessary in patients with hepatic or renal impairment. Use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age. Safety and efficacy in the paediatric population have not been established.
Uses
Trofame 60mg capsule is used in the following: Treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) Reduces the frequency and urgency of urination Improves bladder control Increases bladder capacity Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Chronic constipation
How it works
Trofame 60mg capsule is an antimuscarinic medication that works by blocking the effects of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that causes the bladder muscles to contract. By blocking the effects of acetylcholine, it relaxes the bladder muscles and helps to reduce the frequency and urgency of urination.
How to Use
Trofame 60mg capsule is available in two routes of administration: oral and extended-release oral. The oral form is a tablet taken orally, with or without food, twice a day. The extended-release oral form is a capsule taken by mouth once a day, usually in the morning. The choice of route of administration will depend on the individual patient's needs and preferences.
