Product Introduction
Trudepot 22.5mg Injection contains the active ingredient leuprolide acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. It is indicated for treating prostate cancer in men, hormone-responsive breast cancer, endometriosis (tissue that normally lines the uterus growing outside it), and uterine fibroids (benign growths of the uterus) in women. The medicine is also used in central precocious puberty, a condition where hormonal changes cause a child's body to develop into an adult prematurely.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to leuprolide acetate or any other ingredients in the formulation, including goserelin and triptorelin, or to other gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. During initial treatment, existing symptoms may temporarily worsen owing to increased sex steroid levels in the body. This effect typically resolves with continued use. Consult your physician regarding any concerns.
Trudepot 22.5mg Injection is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, patients with abnormal vaginal bleeding, or those with seizure or mood disorders. Men with urinary obstruction or history of testicular removal should inform their physician before treatment.
Regular bone density measurement is advised during therapy. Women of childbearing age should use non-hormonal contraceptive methods while receiving this injection. Inform your doctor if you experience spinal cord pressure, urinary symptoms, or haematuria (blood in urine).
Before beginning therapy, disclose all underlying medical conditions to your healthcare professional, including diabetes, seizure disorders, cardiac conditions such as chest pain or irregular heartbeats, depression, or increased osteoporosis risk (bone thinning). Provide complete information about all medicines you are taking—prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, and vitamin supplements—prior to starting treatment.
Uses
Trudepot 22.5mg Injection is used in the treatment of the following: Prostate cancer Hormone-responsive breast cancer in perimenopausal (around menopause) women Endometriosis (a painful illness in which the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus grows outside of your uterus) Central precocious puberty in children under 10 years (a childâs body begins to change into an adult too soon caused by a release of certain hormones)
How it works
Trudepot 22.5mg Injection causes the pituitary gland's GnRH receptors to become desensitised, which lowers the amount of LH and FSH secreted. In the end, this leads to a decrease in the synthesis of sex hormones, specifically estrogen in females and testosterone in males. This helps to slow the growth of cancer cells, reduce the size of uterine fibroids, and alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis and early onset of puberty.
How to Use
Trudepot 22.5mg Injection is usually administered in the arm, thigh or abdomen. If this injection is recommended for you, it will be given by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer.
