Product Introduction
Unistrol 160mg Tablet contains Megestrol as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medicines known as progestogens and is used to treat certain hormone-dependent cancers, particularly breast cancer. Megestrol is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone. This medicine is also prescribed to manage unexplained weight loss, cachexia (severe weakness and muscle wasting), and anorexia (loss of appetite) in patients with cancer or weakened immune systems. Progestogens are generally used in patients whose disease has progressed despite conventional anti-estrogen therapy. Before starting treatment, your doctor may evaluate your estrogen receptor (ER) status to determine whether your breast cancer is associated with estrogen receptor expression and to ensure that Unistrol 160mg Tablet is an appropriate treatment option.
Uses
Treatment of hormone-dependent cancer (endometrial cancer, breast cancer) Treatment of anorexia, cachexia or unexplained weight loss
How it works
Unistrol 160mg Tablet exhibits anticancer properties by interacting with steroidal receptors. It suppresses steroid production by the adrenal glands and androgen secretion by the ovaries in postmenopausal women. It also prevents the breakdown of cytokines and stimulates appetite in chronic disease-induced anorexia and cachexia.
How to Use
Unistrol 160mg Tablet works by acting on steroid hormone receptors, suppressing the production of certain hormones (like estrogen and androgens) that fuel cancer growth. It also boosts appetite and helps prevent weight loss in patients with serious health conditions.
