Conditions: Kidney Disease

Product Introduction

Urimax 0.2mg capsule contains tamsulosin, an alpha-adrenergic antagonist. It is used in men to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), which presents with difficulty in urinating, painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency. The medication reduces tension in the muscles of the prostate and urethra. It belongs to the class of alpha-blockers and works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder to allow urine to flow more easily.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to tamsulosin or any of the other ingredients, or if angioedema (swelling due to allergic reaction) occurs after using some drugs. Inform your physician if you have serious liver infection, if you experience dizziness, or if you have experienced malaise during or after urination (micturition syncope).

If you are planning to undergo cataract or glaucoma surgery, inform your doctor that you are taking or have recently taken Urimax 0.2. Caution is advised if you have severely impaired renal function, as there is insufficient data from clinical studies on patients with severe renal impairment. In case of dizziness, sit down or lie down until these signs disappear. Report to your physician if there is a drop in blood pressure on long-term use.

How it works

Cap Urimax 0.2, an alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist, selectively blocks sympathetic nervous stimulation of the receptor resulting in relaxation of the smooth muscles of the prostate, prostatic urethra, and bladder neck for improvement in urine flow rate and a reduction in symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It binds selectively and competitively to the postsynaptic alpha-1 adrenoceptor, particularly to subtypes alpha1A and alpha1D. It brings about the relaxation of prostatic and urethral smooth muscle
