Conditions: Kidney Disease

Product Introduction

Urimax Capsule contains tamsulosin, an alpha-adrenergic antagonist used in men to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Symptoms managed include difficulty in urinating, painful urination, and urinary frequency and urgency. The medication works by reducing tension in the muscles of the prostate and urethra, allowing urine to flow more easily. Tamsulosin belongs to the class of alpha-blockers and functions by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to tamsulosin or any other ingredient in Urimax Capsule, or if angioedema (swelling due to allergic reaction) occurs after using certain drugs.

Inform your physician if you have serious liver infection, if you experience dizziness, or if you have experienced malaise during urination or after urinating (micturition syncope). If you are scheduled for cataract or glaucoma surgery, inform your doctor that you are taking or have recently taken Urimax Capsule.

Exercise caution if you have severely impaired renal function, as there is insufficient data from clinical studies regarding patients with severe renal impairment. In case of dizziness, sit down or lie down until these signs resolve. Report to your physician if a drop in blood pressure occurs with long-term use.

Uses

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)

How it works

Tamsulosin, an alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist, selectively blocks sympathetic nervous stimulation of the receptor resulting in relaxation of the smooth muscles of the prostate, prostatic urethra, and bladder neck for improvement in urine flow rate and a reduction in symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It binds selectively and competitively to the postsynaptic alpha-1 adrenoceptor, particularly to subtypes alpha1A and alpha1D. It brings about the relaxation of prostatic and urethral smooth muscle
