Valchek Tablet

Valchek tablet is an antiviral medication containing the active ingredient Valganciclovir. It belongs to the antiviral (non-HIV) drug class. Valganciclovir is converted to Ganciclovir within the body, where it acts against viral infections. The tablet is used to treat Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection of the retina in adults with Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). CMV infection of the retina frequently causes vision impairment and blindness. It is also used to prevent Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in adult and paediatric patients who have received an organ transplant from a CMV-infected donor. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Valganciclovir, Ganciclovir, or any other ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have reduced blood cell counts (WBC, RBC, Platelet). Notify your doctor if you have undergone radiotherapy or haemodialysis (treatment to filter waste and water from blood) or if you have kidney conditions. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use effective contraception during treatment and after treatment; women should use contraception for 30 days, and men should use condoms for 90 days during and after treatment. Discuss fertility concerns with your doctor. Your doctor will adjust the Valchek tablet dosage if you have kidney conditions. Your doctor may perform regular blood tests to monitor blood cell counts while you are taking the tablet.

Treatment and prevention of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection

Valchek tablet is an antiviral medication. After administration, liver enzymes rapidly convert the Valchek tablet into Ganciclovir. Ganciclovir prevents virus growth by inhibiting viral DNA synthesis.

Take the Valchek tablet as advised by your physician. Swallow the tablets whole and intact. This tablet should be taken with food. Do not crush, chew, or open the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dosage and duration based on age, body weight, and disease condition. Only stop taking the medicine if your doctor advises you to stop.

Side Effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Although all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Discuss effective contraception methods with your doctor, along with fertility concerns. Do not stop the medicine until your doctor advises. Notify your doctor if you experience any serious side effects. Inform your physician if you have liver problems because Valchek tablet should be used cautiously with this condition.
