Product Introduction

Valcip 450mg tablet is an antiviral medication containing the active ingredient Valganciclovir. It belongs to the class of antiviral (non-HIV) drugs. Valganciclovir is converted to Ganciclovir in the body, where it works to combat viral infections. It is indicated for the treatment of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in adult patients with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Cytomegalovirus infection frequently results in vision impairment and blindness. It is also used to prevent Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in adult and paediatric patients who have received an organ transplant from a CMV-positive donor. Do not use this medication if you have an allergy to Valganciclovir, Ganciclovir, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Inform your physician if you have reduced blood cell counts (WBC, RBC, platelets). Notify your doctor if you have previously undergone radiotherapy or haemodialysis (a procedure to filter waste and water from your blood) or have kidney conditions. Advise your physician if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Effective contraception must be used during treatment and for a period afterwards; women should use contraception for 30 days, and men should use condoms for 90 days during and after treatment. Discuss any fertility concerns with your doctor. A dose adjustment of Valcip 450mg tablet may be necessary if you have kidney conditions. Your doctor may arrange regular blood tests to monitor blood cell counts during treatment with this tablet.
