Product Introduction
Valnova 450mg Tablet is an antiviral medication indicated for the treatment of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in adults with AIDS and for the prevention of CMV infections in patients who have received organ transplants from a CMV-infected donor. The active ingredient, Valganciclovir, is metabolised to Ganciclovir in the body, which functions by inhibiting CMV viral replication and thereby controlling the infection and preventing complications such as vision loss. Valnova should be taken precisely as prescribed, with food, to optimise absorption. Patients are advised to maintain adequate hydration during treatment to minimise the risk of renal complications. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as directed, even if symptoms resolve before treatment completion, to ensure complete management of the infection. Common adverse effects include diarrhoea, nausea, anaemia, and reduced white blood cell or platelet counts. Patients should inform their doctor if adverse effects persist or worsen. Before initiating treatment, disclose any underlying medical conditions, particularly renal impairment or blood disorders, and any concurrent medications to avoid potential drug interactions. Valnova is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and effective contraception should be employed during treatment and for a specified period following treatment completion.
