Product Introduction

Vaptolva 15mg Tablet contains the active component tolvaptan. It belongs to the class of vasopressin antagonists. The medicine increases the excretion of water in the urine, which increases aquaresis (water excretion without loss of electrolyte) and also decreases the osmolarity of urine (measurement of urine concentration), which increases serum sodium concentration. This medicine requires close monitoring of blood sodium levels. Patients are advised to consume adequate water during treatment to avoid dehydration. Those with fluid restrictions should consult their healthcare provider. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney and liver disorders or are allergic to ingredients such as benzazepine, tolvaptan, or other benzazepine derivatives. This medicine is contraindicated in patients with anuria (lack of urine), hypovolemic hyponatremia (deficiency in both total body water and sodium level), hypernatremia (high sodium level in blood), and patients who cannot feel thirst. It is recommended to discuss your complete medical history with your doctor. The safety and efficacy of the medicine in children below 18 years of age are not established; therefore, consult your doctor before administering the medicine to children.

Uses

Hyponatremia (Low sodium levels in the blood) Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease [ADPKD]

How it works

Vaptolva 15mg Tablet blocks the vasopressin hormone effect (antidiuretic hormone- that helps to prevent water loss), decreases the amount of water in your body by increasing urine production, and, as a result, raises the concentration of sodium in your blood.

How to Use

Take Vaptolva 15mg Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will provide the appropriate dose and frequency based on your medical condition and other factors. Do not crush or chew the tablets. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Have plenty of water and contact your doctor immediately. If you have taken an excess tablet than the prescribed dosage, don't double up the medicine if you forgot to take the medicine.
