Product Introduction
Viropil tablet contains three active substances: Dolutegravir, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate. Dolutegravir is an antiretroviral medicine that belongs to the integrase inhibitor class. Lamivudine and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are antiretroviral medicines classified as nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTI). This medicine is used to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection in adults and children weighing 40 kg or greater. It works by inhibiting HIV reverse transcriptase, an enzyme essential for virus replication. While taking this medicine, patients with HIV may still develop HIV-related infections. Although effective antiretroviral therapy reduces risk, HIV transmission remains possible during treatment. Contact your doctor for additional information. Do not take Viropil tablets if you are allergic to Dolutegravir, Lamivudine, Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, or other ingredients in the formulation. Patients with pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis should use this combination with caution. During treatment, your doctor may periodically check your blood counts, bone mineral density, and liver and kidney function to prevent serious complications. Inform your doctor if you have a history of lactic acidosis (excess lactic acid), pancreatitis (pancreatic inflammation), bone disease (osteonecrosis—bone tissue death), fractures, chronic hepatitis B, or kidney problems. Notify your doctor if you are planning pregnancy or suspect you may be pregnant. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Viropil tablets due to the risk of HIV transmission to the infant.
Uses
Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV) infection in adults and children (40kg or greater).
How it works
Viropil tablet lowers HIV by inhibiting its replication. It increases the number of CD4 (T) cells, enabling the immune system to fight other infections. This lowers the risk of severity and death associated with a weak immune system.
How to Use
It is taken orally. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Viropil based on the disease condition and other factors. Always take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at the same time. Do not take an additional dose to compensate for the missed dose. Do not chew, dissolve, crush, or break the tablet.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Serious: Rapid breathing Drowsiness Nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain Severe allergic reactions Severe mood disturbances, depression, and suicidal thoughts Confusion, forgetfulness, seizures, and tremor Liver toxicity (yellow skin, dark urine, light-colored skin) Kidney damage Common: Bloating, flatulence Headache Sleeplessness Skin reactions Wheezing, swelling, or lightheadedness Hair loss Diarrhea Bone disorders Weakness Anemia
Expert Tips
Inform your doctor about your underlying infections. If you have advanced HIV (AIDS), you may develop signs of infection and inflammation or worsen the signs of an existing infection once treatment is started. Report your doctor for side effects. It is mandatory to tell your medical professional if you are consuming other medicines that may damage your kidneys. Always consume the dose recommended by your doctor. Viropil tablet does not reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to others via sexual contact or blood contamination. You must continue the medication to avoid this complication. Always use effective contraception to have safe sex.
