Product Introduction

Welhart 50mg Capsule is an antiarrhythmic medicine that contains the active ingredient Mexiletine. It is primarily prescribed to manage irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias). This medication is also used to relieve the symptoms of myotonia in adults with non-dystrophic myotonic disorders, which are inherited conditions caused by genetic abnormalities affecting muscle function rather than a specific form of muscular dystrophy. Myotonia is a condition in which the muscles are unable to relax normally after contraction, resulting in muscle stiffness or delayed muscle relaxation.

Welhart 50mg Capsule is contraindicated in individuals who have previously experienced a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any heart, liver, or kidney disorders, abnormal potassium levels (high or low), low magnesium levels, or epilepsy. Since this medicine may affect the nervous system, it should be used with caution in patients with seizure disorders. You should also avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to local anaesthetics, a group of medicines used to numb a specific part of the body. The use of Welhart 50mg Capsule is not recommended for children or individuals below 18 years of age.

During treatment with Welhart 50mg Capsule, it is advisable to reduce your caffeine intake by approximately half. This medicine can increase caffeine levels in the bloodstream, which may lead to side effects such as restlessness, nervousness, a rapid heartbeat, and other unwanted effects. Limiting caffeine consumption can help minimise the risk of these interactions.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant before taking this medicine. Mexiletine can pass into breast milk; therefore, breastfeeding is not recommended while receiving treatment with Welhart 50mg Capsule.
