Product Introduction

Wemtanib Tablet contains the active ingredient lapatinib. It is indicated for the treatment of advanced breast cancer and may be used alone or in combination with other medications. It is effective against hormone-sensitive cells and rapidly multiplying cancer cells that express high levels of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 protein. Common side effects observed during treatment with Wemtanib Tablet include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, weakness, itching, dry skin, loss of appetite, indigestion, constipation, mouth ulcers, abdominal pain, insomnia, joint or back pain, cough, breathing difficulties, and headache. If you experience severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, or cardiac, hepatic, or pulmonary complications, inform your physician immediately. Report any diarrhoea or signs of dehydration to your healthcare provider at the earliest. Monitor blood pressure regularly while taking Wemtanib Tablet. If diarrhoea develops during treatment, maintain adequate fluid intake, consume low-fat high-protein foods, and avoid dairy products and herbal supplements.

How it works

Wemtanib Tablet acts against the enzyme called tyrosine kinase. It prevents the Human epidermal growth factor receptor protein (HER2) and Epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFRs) from signaling, which are produced by breast cancer cells. It kills cancer cells and slows down their growth.

Expert Tips

Wemtanib Tablet can cause severe diarrhea, so it is advised to take plenty of water during the treatment. Eat a well-balanced diet. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while on treatment with Wemtanib Tablet as it affects how the medicine works. This medication makes your skin sensitive to the sun and increases the risk of skin rashes. Avoid spending more time in the sunlight, and ensure that you always apply sunscreen with a good SPF before stepping out. Wash your skin with a soap-free cleanser. Carry a list of your medications when visiting your doctor, as Wemtanib may interact with heart or liver drugs.
