Product Introduction
Xapavir 50mg Tablet is an antiviral medication in the integrase strand transfer inhibitor class, containing dolutegravir as its active ingredient. It is indicated for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. HIV infection is primarily transmitted through sexual contact with an infected individual or through exposure to infected blood, such as via shared injection needles. This medication must be used in combination with other antiretroviral medicines for HIV treatment. The drug is contraindicated in patients with liver disease. Due to increased drug concentration in hepatic impairment, caution is warranted when administering this medication to patients with liver dysfunction. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage or implement additional monitoring in these patients to ensure safety and efficacy. During the early stages of HIV treatment, some patients may experience an inflammatory response to opportunistic infections. This condition, known as immune reconstitution syndrome, can occur following initiation of this drug or other antiretroviral therapies. Awareness of this possibility and monitoring for signs of worsening infections or inflammatory symptoms is necessary. Inform your healthcare provider if symptoms are concerning or persist beyond the expected duration. Healthcare professionals must carefully monitor patients taking this medication for signs or symptoms of skin or hypersensitivity reactions, including rash, blistering, or mucosal lesions. If a severe reaction is suspected, this medicine should be discontinued immediately and appropriate medical treatment initiated. Patients should report any skin or hypersensitivity reactions to their healthcare provider and seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms of a severe reaction. Inform your doctor immediately of all medications you are currently taking, including herbal products and supplements, prior to commencing this drug.

Expert Tips
To prevent the spread of HIV infection, avoid sharing needles or syringes, which can transmit HIV-1 infections easily. It's necessary for individuals who use injectable drugs to use sterile needles and syringes and never share them with others. Personal items like toothbrushes, razor blades, or anything with body fluids or blood should also be avoided. They should not be shared because HIV-1 can be present in blood and certain body fluids, and sharing these items could mainly transmit the virus.
