Xostiv 500mg Tablet

Xostiv 500mg Tablet contains abiraterone acetate as its active ingredient. It is indicated in adult men for the treatment of prostate cancer that has metastasised to other sites in the body. It is typically administered together with a steroid medication to reduce the risk of adverse effects. When prescribed for early-stage disease, Xostiv 500mg Tablet is used in combination with testosterone-lowering therapy. This medicine is not suitable for use in women or children. Effective contraceptive measures must be maintained throughout the course of treatment. This medicine contains lactose and sodium. Notify your physician if you have lactose intolerance or follow a sodium-restricted diet. Inform your physician if you have liver disease, hypertension, cardiac disorders, hypokalaemia, diabetes, allergic conditions, or any other medical conditions. Provide your physician with a complete list of all medicines, including supplements and herbal preparations, that you are taking before commencing treatment with this medication. The most commonly reported side effects are peripheral oedema, hypertension, and diarrhoea. Anaemia and decreased libido may also occur with use of Xostiv 500mg Tablet. This medicine should not be used concurrently with Ra-223, which is indicated for prostate cancer treatment.

Used in the treatment of prostate cancer

The drug works by inhibiting the production of hormone testosterone in the body. This can slow the growth of prostate cancer.

The medicine should always be consumed as per the direction of your physician or pharmacist. The drug should be taken by mouth. It should not be taken with food. Swallow the tablets whole with water without breaking them. Food must be eaten at least 2 hours before taking the medication and must not be eaten for at least 1 hour after taking the medicine. Women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not touch this medication without gloves.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medical treatment. Although all medicines can cause side effects, everyone will not get them. Inform the doctor if the patient has any liver, blood pressure, heart disorders, diabetes and medication taken for different medical conditions before taking this medication. The medicine should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. This medication should be taken orally and it should be taken on an empty stomach. It should not be taken with food; swallow the tablet as a whole with water without breaking it. Food must be eaten at least 2 hours before taking the medication, and the patient is advised to eat after 1 hour after consuming the medication. Blood pressure, potassium levels, and liver function tests should be monitored regularly while taking this medication.
