Yasmin Tablet

Yasmin Tablet is a combination oral contraceptive containing Drospirenone and Ethinylestradiol. These synthetic hormones—a progestin and an estrogen—work together to prevent pregnancy in women of reproductive age and to manage symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). The combination is also indicated for treating moderate acne vulgaris in women aged 14 years and older, provided they have no contraindications to oral contraceptive use and have attained menarche. For acne treatment, use is recommended only in patients who also require oral contraception for birth control.

Do not take Drospirenone or Ethinylestradiol if you are allergic to either active ingredient or to any other component of the formulation. This medication is not recommended for women who have not reached puberty or for those past menopause.

Before initiating this medication, inform your doctor of any history of blood disorders, tumours, liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, or cerebrovascular disease. Provide a complete overview of your medical history and current medications prior to beginning treatment with this pill.

Yasmin Tablet contains synthetic forms of two female hormones, progestin, and estrogen. It works to prevent pregnancy by stopping the release of eggs (prevent ovulation), making it harder for sperm to reach the egg, and making it difficult for a fertilized egg to attach in the womb. Besides preventing pregnancy, they also help with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) by balancing hormones, which leads to fewer mood swings and less irritability during the menstrual cycle.

Take the Yasmin Tablet exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Take one tablet by mouth at the same time every day. You can take it with or without food. The failure rate may increase if pills are missed or taken incorrectly. Take the missed dose as soon as possible; do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms that occur with medicines. Although all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Remember, Yasmin Tablet doesn't protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Factors like age and smoking can increase the risk of blood clots, so let your doctor know if anything changes with your health, and it is advisable to quit smoking when you are taking this pill. Keep an eye out for breast lumps, and see your physician if you have severe abdominal pain. If you notice any mood changes while on this medication, talk to your doctor. It is normal to experience unexpected bleeding initially, but if it continues, don't hesitate to contact your doctor. If you don't have bleeding during the pill-free days for two cycles, make sure you are not pregnant before starting the next strip.
